It's over - a great Effort
The Jamboree is over. After nearly two years of planning, preparation, the two Jamboree Units have now completed their partication at the 21st World Scout Jamboree.
Subcamp life
As soon as we arrived we were getting to know our own subcamps and be part of the subcamp daily life; UK 004 (Blue Troop) making their footprints in Canyon, UK 005 (Purple Troop) opening up avenues in Volcano.
Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony saw 40,000 of us in front of the main arena stage. Prince William and the Duke of Kent attended too. A fantastic start to the 21st World Scout Jamboree.
Programme Activities
On-site programme activities included the science-based Elements Zone, the physically-based Energise Zone, the culturally-based World Villages (Aquaville and Terraville), and the educationally-based Global Development Village. Off-site programme activities included the adventurous day out to Gilwell, the water-based half-day on the reservoir at Alton Water as part of the Splash programme, and a day of community service as part of the Starburst project.
Scouting's Sunrise
Wednesday, 1st August 2007 - exactly 100 years to the date from the first experimental Scout camp on Brownsea Island. 40,000 Scouts wake as the sun rises and parade to the main arena. No national flags are displayed, just the World Flag. At 8 o'clock, everyone renewed their promise in their own language and words. Afterwards, everyone was encouraged to get at least 100 signatures on their special sunrise neckers.
Food Fayre
During 1 August, each Troop held a food fayre and entertainment for the rest of their subcamp.
Carnival
Carnival evening saw all the Subcamps parading Scouts from each Troop in a big circular route around the Jamboree site. The evening was a noisy colourful affair with many Jamboree participants making a big effort to impress!

During the Jamboree, participants recorded video extracts which have been posted on YouTube. See our Jamboree Unit and other particpants here.
