BSJU supports 25th Windsor Half Marathon - 23/24 Sept 2006

Windsor
With nearly 6000 runners, the Windsor half-marathon's twenty-fifth anniversary was a success with athletes running in warm and dry conditions. Berkshire Scouts Jamboree Unit members helped the race organisers by assisting at the finishing station, handing out medals, drinks and goody-bags to runners. This was done in conjunction with regulars, 1st Datchet Sea Scouts. Around half of the two Units helped on the main race day with a number helping set up on Saturday too.

BBC Two Berkshire Scouts Jamboree Unit members were interviewed recently on BBC Radio Berkshire's Breakfast Show. Veteran presenter Maggie Philbin spent the morning at Bear's Rails camp with two Scout Troops during their Summer Camp. Of those Scouts camping there were two Unit members. They described on air how they had gone through a selection weekend and were really looking forward to meeting so many Scouts from so many different countries. During the week both of them also took part in the show's daily Generation Game answering questions against a leader. Both of them won!

Cheers Less than 12 months to go to the World Scout Jamboree! That's the exciting message that we have for you. The countdown really has begun. It's also less than 12 months to the Scouting Sunrise Celebrations which will unite 28 million Scouts around the world, fourty thousand of them at Hyland's Park.

The first Patrol leaders' workshop saw all 8 PLs from both Units come together for a weekend.
