HYLANDS PARK GETS ITS OWN RAIL LINK IN TIME FOR THE JAMBOREE
The transport secretary has announced that a temporary line will be opened between the East of England / Anglian rail network and Hylands Park, host of the World Scout Jamboree. Speaking on BBC radio, the station has been built from material recovered from the closure of other stations, maintaining the Jamboree's ethos as a 'green' event. The single track rail line will run trains direct to London Liverpool Street in just over half-an-hour, saving major congestion on the A12 and M11 networks. The first train is due to arrive on Friday 27 July carrying more than 100 Scouts from the remote Sans Serif islands.

The 2007 edition of the world famous Ordnance Survey Landranger series will feature the station on its map of the area. It is not known whether other mapping products will be updated to reflect the line.
National Rail enquiries are gearing up for the popular service and a provisional timetable is now available on line.
