Expedition Programme

The outline programme is described below:

Fri 19 Oct

2100-2300 Early check-in permitted at 3rd Upton Scout HQ. Map

Sat 20 Oct

0530-0630 Check-in will take place at 3rd Upton Scout HQ. Our coaches will need to be on the road by 0700.

We will be travelling as two Units in convoy via M25 & M20 to Dover. We will take a P&O ferry to Calais and then onward through Belgium, passing Antwerp, into The Netherlands, passing Breda and Utrecht, arrival in Baarn around 1800 local time.

On our arrival, we will then prepare and cook our meal, settle in, wide game.

Sun 21 Oct

Participation in JOTA/JOTI, Meeting local Scout groups including members of Dutch Jamboree contingent who were camping in our sub-camps. We are hoping to have a barbecue, campfire and other activities with the Dutch Scouts during the afternoon.

Mon 22 Oct

Half-day hiking and a half-day biking. An opportunity to explore the local area on foot and on pedal. IMPORTANT: YOU MUST BRING YOUR CYCLE HELMET TO GO BIKING.

Tue 23 Oct

Wed 24 Oct

A day trip into Amsterdam. We will be travelling from Baarn by rail into the city. On arrival, we'll take a boat trip around the city to acclimatise ourselves before being split into smaller accompanied and unaccompanied groups to explore the city's many museums, shops and markets. We'll meet up later in the afternoon before returning back to Baarn by rail.

Our final full day out includes a trip to a theme park.

Sat 27 Oct

After our depart from Baarn, we'll travel back to Berkshire with a final stop of to visit one of The Netherland's top attractions. We anticipate returning to 3rd Upton between 2100 and 2300 UK time.
